COVID-19 Information

Dental treatment in the era of COVID-19 – Infection control has always been a number one priority at Sunny Smiles and with COVID-19, we have ramped up our safety protocols and precautions.

We have increased our already rigid infection control procedures and have implemented new COVID-19 protocols in accordance with the recommendations of the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

What can you expect Dr. Yashi and the rest of the team to look like?

COVID-19 In-Office Precautions

Some Changes We Have Made in the Office: Life has changed, but our commitment to care has not. The safety of our patients and team is the biggest priority to us – Here are just a few of the changes we have made in the office:

  • At least 24 hours before you arrive for your visit, a member of our office will call you to ask COVID-19 pre-screening health questions. We will require you to wear a facemask prior to entering the building and the office.

  • On arrival at the office please remain in your car and call the office to let us know you are here. We are decreasing the number of people in the waiting room at any given time. Your temperature will be checked as you enter the office, and you will be asked the health screening questions.

  • Upon entering the office, we will ask all patients to sanitize their hands – Hand sanitizer is available at the entry for your convenience and safety.
  • The front desk now has several plexiglass barriers – We ask that you stand behind them when interacting with our team members.

  • Each procedure room has its own air purifier as well as several larger medical grade air purifiers in the building – As air purifiers tend to dry the air, we run several large air humidifiers in the office as well.

  • In addition to air purifiers, the office utilizes state of the art PAX2000 Extraoral Dental Suction System to safely and effectively remove droplets and aerosol particles that are produced during dental treatments.  The systems are FDA-Approved with advanced filtration system and medical grade UV disinfectant light.
  • A private room with closing doors and medical grade air purification is prepared for our patients that are most vulnerable to COVID-19. A back-door entry will be used to access this room so that those who request the use of this room will only interact with the dentist and assistant during their time in the building.

  • Between every patient, we thoroughly disinfect the office and the operatories with a hypochlorous acid fogger that has proved to be highly effective in eliminating COVID-19 from surfaces and the air.
  • In an attempt to decrease the number of people in the building at any time, we are seeing fewer patients in a day than before the pandemic. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work on the schedule.

  • We encourage parents and guardians to make credit card prepayments over the phone prior to the appointment or at the time of checking in.
